Classics.

As much as I love the classics and want to share them with the boys, I hate reading them aloud. It’s hard! The words do not flow off my tongue and I probably kill the story. For instance, I do not sound anything like Robin Hood or his Merry Men. The end. That is pretty much the gist of me reading any of these books to the boys.

Chase reads The Great Illustrated Classics series and loves it! He is a strong reader- but he is not ready for the unabridged versions of these stories. Still, I want him to know the stories the way they were written. So we listen to classics on audio, we listen to a story or two every month, while driving in the car. This is such an enjoyable part of the day for us all.

This month, we listened to The Secret Garden. The Secret Garden has always been dear to my heart. Everything about this story is happy, hopeful, and beautiful. I wanted to share it with the boys. I wanted them to love it too.

Luckily, I found an audio presentation by Focus On the Family Radio Theatre. It was fantastic! It was a brilliant presentation! I loved it! But more importantly, the boys loved it! Chase wants to read the book now and Sawyer has asked to listen to it again!  Everyday when walking to the car, Chase would tell me how excited he was to get back to our story. These are the moments I love- sharing these stories, enjoying them together and discussing them- pure bliss!
