Chase has a thing for history. He really gets into it and finds it fascinating. His favorite book series is the Magic Tree House. He loves these books!! He has read many of them now including the Research guides that go along with them. He is always telling me some interesting fact from long ago. We listen to Story of the World: Ancient Times on audio when we drive from place to place- before he has even heard a chapter, he can tell me something about it- so much of it is just from reading this series (and Youtube and various other sources). But, MTH has definitely brought history to life for him.
And, in the Chase fashion, we of course have to turn our house and lives into whatever topic Chase is studying. Grandpa kindly donated some cowboy gear and we spent the day playing in a country band, listening to classic country music (Chase loves Red River Valley), galloping around the house, climbing’ trees, and haven’ gun fights. We ended the day with a classic cowboy favorite- cornbread and chili- and a tall bottle of root beer, every cowboy needs one at the end of a day.
It was a great couple of days. My favorite part was the hoedown. Sawyer on the drum or piano, me on the gee-tar, and Chase belting it out on his harmonica. He was tapping his foot and leading our band. It was a shin-dig for sure!!
